Plat Préféré is geen kookprogramma als een ander, maar een duizelingwekkende culinaire wereldreis. Deze tweede reeks is nog straffer dan de eerste, met nog meer gastronomische passie en verwondering. Maar het uitgangspunt blijft onveranderd: een topkok (Jeroen Meus), een legendarische figuur en diens lievelingsgerecht. Astrid Lindgren, Armand Pien, Bob Marley, Greta Garbo, Hergé, Bruce Lee, Charles De Gaulle, Toon Hermans en Ian Fleming : allemaal hadden ze de wereld aan hun voeten en allemaal verdienden ze een plaatsje in de geschiedenisboeken. Maar wat was hun favoriete gerecht? Hoe belangrijk vonden zij eten, hoe deden ze het zelf achter het fornuis, en waarom hielden ze nu net van die ene specifieke schotel?
Om het antwoord op die vragen te vinden, dompelt Jeroen zich onder in een voor hem totaal nieuwe leefwereld. Hij duikt lokale keukens in om plaatselijke koks aan het werk te zien, proeft exotische drankjes, staat op het veld met kwekers en telers, en hanteert verrassende technieken en onbekend keukengerei. En dan bereidt hij een plat préféré, op een locatie die al even dicht staat bij de iconen als het eten waar ze zo gek op waren, en in het gezelschap van een intimus van de legende.

A friend just wrote to tell me that someone has just uploaded Cinema Sewer #10 to #20 onto a popular movie torrenting site. In the email he says:

"I dunno how you feel about that since most of those issues are out of print now and the uploader DOES tell everyone to go to your site and buy your stuff. But at the same time most of that material is in the new book too and it is still redistriuting your shit without you being involved, and for free.

So I dunno, but i thought you'd at least like to know that not only are DVD's being given away for free, and music being given away for free but books and fanzines are now being given away for free too.

In my estimation there is less and less point in doing any of this because the pople who put the money up to do the actual work wont be able to afford it much longer..."

I can't say I'm too thrilled about that.

On the one hand, downloading rare out-of-print movies that no one can get otherwise seems to be a perfect use of the technology. And music downloading makes a whole hell of of sense. Bands make all of their money from touring so giving the music away and getting lots of new fans is brilliant marketing.

But what the fuck do I get out of someone else giving away everything I do? Nothing. It's not "free advertising" for my next big tour or something. Those magazines and books are where I make the money to be able to keep printing it and making more. I have serious doubts that someone is gonna download #10 to #20 there for free and then turnaround and send me money for the same thing.

I'm kind of disgusted and disappointed that some fan of mine thought this was a good way to help me out. Thanks for nothing, asshole.

So what do you guys think? Am I not seeing the big picture here? Or am I justified in being pissed about this? Feedback, plz.

Als je van wijn houdt dan is het heerlijk om ’s avonds bij de maaltijd of op de bank een flesje wijn open te trekken. Maar woon je alleen of houd je partner niet van wijn, dan heb je al snel een halve fles of meer over. Op een maandagavond een fles tot de bodem opdrinken is (voor de meeste onder ons) geen optie. Dus je bewaart de rest. Daar zijn allerlei foefjes voor zoals de Vacuvin. Maar die trekt niet écht vacuum. Er blijft nog steeds lucht in je fles achter. Zuurstof en wijn zijn maar één dag vriendjes, en na een paar dagen is het gedaan met je geopende kwaliteitswijn.
Er is iets dat wel echt werkt in het bewaren van je wijnen, iets dat verdomd simpel is en geschikt voor rood, rosé en wit. Dat niet iemand daar eerder op kwam (zelfs de vinoloog die ik erover sprak had het niet eerder geprobeerd).
Ga naar je supermarkt en koop twee vreselijk goedkope 0,25 liter flesjes wijn van glas met een schroefdop. Giet die thuis door de gootsteen of drink ze op (soms is het een simpel wijntje, vaak ronduit waterig) spoel de flesjes om met koud water en bewaar de doppen. Trek nu je Chateauneuf du Pape voor die avond open en giet beide flesjes bomvol. Zo vol dat er een bolletje wijn bovenop op het flesje staat.

Schroef nu de dop erop (als het goed is komt er een beetje wijn onder de dop vandaan). Spoel de buitenkant even af en droog het flesje. Doe dat nog een keer en je hebt twee flesjes wijn écht zonder zuurstof, want daar was geen plek meer voor.
Deze twee flesjes kun je gerust een week bewaren. Zet je ze in de koelkast dan kun je die tijd nog langer rekken. Wanneer je dit vaker doet, gooi de flesjes dan niet in een sopje (vol bacteriën), maar spoel zo om met heet water.
En dan rest je nu verder niets dan de overige 0,25 liter uit de originele fles direct op te maken

In my humble opinion, the cutest 1960s Playboy playmate was Dolly Read, whom most of you should know if you've ever seen Russ Meyer's bitchinsweet BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS from 1970.

Born on 13 September 1944 in Bristol, England, Dolly was Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month in May 1966. She posed for the magazine again in 1970, and worked as a Bunny at the Playboy Clubs in Chicago, London, and New York City. After appearing in THAT TENDER TOUCH in 1969 (a favorite of mine, and many lesbians into 60s sexploitation), she landed the lead role of naive rock and roll front-woman for "The Carrie Nations" in Russ Meyer's BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS in 1970. The year after that, she married comedian Dick Martin, became a housewife and quit acting and modeling save for an appearance or two on CHARLIES ANGELS and FANTASTY ISLAND. She remained married to Martin until his death in 2008.
